At the Outer Banks Sailing Academy we believe that sailing is fun, easy, and safe. Our courses are designed to give you the confidence you need to enjoy
the sailing world right away. Classes are taught in a reasonable time frame. Many schools try to convince you that you can learn to sail safely in just 2 days. Not here, we spend 3 days working with our students in the Basic Keel Boat, Basic Coastal Cruising, and Coastal Navigation classes and 4 days for the fun and challenging Bareboat Chartering class.  Any less than this and you ‘re going to miss something.

Our instructors are all American Sailing Association Certified, so you know that they are not only professional sailors but thoroughly trained instructors as well. We are honored to partner with the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum and we think their endorsement of us speaks volumes. We offer many opportunities for our students to become involved with the Museum and Festival Park. We open the doors for our students to expand their sailing education, to tour or even volunteer on the Elizabeth II crew, to learn about our fascinating history here on the Outer Banks, or to just enjoy the special relationship that the Outer Banks has with nature.
